Crazy Weekend Challenge

Those of you who follow me know I love challenges and seek out online challenges to help me to grow and explore art.   Today is a self-imposed challenge.    I am making as many cards using product lines featured in Simon Says Stamp’s blog for Stamptember. I am also trying to stick with a autumn or fall feel so I can send these cards out in the next few weeks.   Here is what I came up with.

W Plus 9

I don’t know if I have more than one stamp by this company but the stamp I own I have used many times.   The birds on the stamp make me smile and I continue to find new ways to use them.

The supplies used in this card are:

  • W Plus 9 – Happy Birds stamp
  • Kelly Purkey – Fall Favorites stamp
  • Sunny Studios – Sunshine word die
  • Koi watercolors
  • Ranger Archival Ink – Jet Black
  • Nuvo Glitter gloss pen
  • DCWV – Old World stack cardstock

Newton’s Nook

I was sure I had more than this one stamp and went looking for a favorite, but could not find it.   It was a good hand of fate because I had never used this stamp before and I finally have.   I also learned a lesson about putting your sentiment on when using an invisible ink like Versamark.   Lesson: watch the top of your images that you may wish to trim to.

The supplies used on this card are:

  • Newton’s Nook – Serene Silhouettes stamp
  • Heidi Swapp color shine – Ocean spray
  • Tim Holtz – Stamptember stencil
  • Ranger – assorted blue Distress Ink and Oxides
  • Embossing Powder – Black
  • Versamark – Inkpad

I knew I had only one of this maker’s stamp and I had used it with all the sentiments on it so I was on the lookout for something different.   I found it.

The supplies used on this card are:

  • Art Impressions-Live Laugh Love stamp
  • Hampton Art – Laugh Out Loud Friends Sisters stamp for my sentiment
  • Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Tim Holtz Product

Like most papercrafters I have a  slew of Tim’s products.  I knew exactly what stamps I wanted to use.   I quickly realized that I was also working on my Mission Inspiration that I had struggled with thus far this month.   It was like all the cards I had done so far were a warm-up for my brain. So for this one, I did an art journal page, not a card.

The supplies I used were:

  • TH Ranger Distress spray – ground espresso and tarnished brass
  • TH Sizzix dies – Weathered clock and Tick tock
  • TH Stampers Anonymous stamps- Mesh & Linen, Good Thoughts,  Life’s possibilities, Sideshow, Etcetera
  • Acrylic black paint – splatters
  • Ranger Archival Ink – Jet Black

Honey Bee

I had a stamp I had bought a long time ago always planning to use it but never doing so.   This was the perfect time to break it out.   It was also good timing because my Tim Holtz project had some drying time before I could finish it.

The supplies I used were:

  • Honey Bee Stamps- Little Pickup, Sending Sentiments
  • Twinkling H2O’s – Hot Cinnamon, Ginger Peach
  • Wink of Stella – silver
  • Koi Watercolors
  • Embossing Powder – Black.

Concord & 9th

I have lost my gas so this is the last one for today.   These are some of my most recent purchases.

The supplies I used:

  • Concord & 9th stamps- Lovely Blossoms
  • Honey Bee – Kindness die & stamp set
  • Tim Holtz stencil – sunburst
  • Perfect Pearl – homemade mist.

It was a fun day in the studio while it snowed outside.   Now is time to get on with things here around the house.

  1. Before I ever looked at your description I knew it was mission accomplished!! I like it. I really did like the first version with only the few steps on it but couldn’t see where it was going… now it has arrived in the in the last day! Good job!

    • Donna, I had no idea where it was going at the time I shared the background/first 3 steps. All I knew is I needed a background surface. After looking at the picture last night I am adding a little something into the spot that looks a little blank. Not sure now if that was the right thing, but alas it is already started with a black like embossing paste so I am committed. Thanks for all your support.
