January Journal Page

One of my goals this year is to make at least one page in my mixed media art journal each month.   I can do more, but no less.    I finished this on January 13st. I had started it the second, but did not put the finishing touches on it until the last day of the month.   I was cutting this one pretty close.

Again I found myself using some kind of texture paste.   I really like the impact that this gives.   I got out my Cricut machine and made the stencil I used for the hiking boots, and the little pair I added.   I still am unhappy with my lettering, but I keep saying practice, practice, practice and get out a ruler. I am somewhat notorious for recycling books, but the type in this is from a stamp I picked up used on a vacation a couple of years ago,not pages torn from a book .  It is full of mom sayings (if Johnny jumped off a bridge, when I was a kid type of stuff) and I thought it perfect for this project. I layered stencils and stamps.   It was a full scale effort of creativity and capture the feel of life.
